The Bank Youth Project Management Group.
There are seven trustees and a representative from the Town Council who form the Management Group, which meets on the second Monday of each month at the BYP. The management group employ the part time youth workers and BYP’s part time administrator.
Experience of delivering projects
BYP has been delivering youth services in Ashburton since 1998. The Chair of trustees / management group has extensive relevant knowledge and experience in teaching and youth work. In Devon, he worked for the LEA as a Youth Worker and organiser of Adult Education in North Devon, then as Principal of a team of workers in Plymouth and finally as the Community Education Officer for East Devon. Other Committee members include a former youth worker, now a teacher at a local special needs school; a retired solicitor with experience of family and children’s law; a retired vicar involved in other local charities and community organisations; and someone who has worked with disabled and disadvantaged young people in teaching and social work.
The Funding Working Group
The Funding Working Group, comprising the Chair, Treasurer, Hon. Secretary, another Committee member and the Administrator, meets regularly to assess the current funding situation facing BYP; to advise the Management Committee; to develop our sustainable approach to fundraising; to research potential funders; to make applications and pursue other approaches to secure additional funding.
