The Ashburton Lodge of Freemasons Presentation

Mike Billington, the Worshipful Master of the Ashburton Lodge of Freemasons, is Pictured (right) presenting a cheque for £514 to Peter Brewer, a trustee and chairman of the management committee for the Bank Youth Project, Ashburton.

Members of the Lodge use the nearby land owned by Grey Matter Ltd to park their vehicles when attending meetings. An honesty box within the lodge raised £214 in ‘parking money’. Then, in liaison with Grey Matter Ltd, a local worthy cause is chosen to receive any monies raised. At their recent meeting lodge members decided to supplement the amount with funds from their charity account, resulting in the splendid amount of £514 being donated to the BYP.

The BYP is a youth centre, in the former Midland Bank building, for all young people aged 9 to 19 years who live in or around Ashburton. It is open four nights a week and engages young people in a varied programme of purposeful activities, also providing a confidential advice and support service.

Being a registered charity, BYP relies on funding coming from donations and grants, either from individuals and groups, or from local, regional and national funding bodies.

A massive THANK YOU, to the Ashburton Lodge of Freemasons. From all the members, staff team, and committee members at the BYP.
