A spring visit to Shallowford Farm on the outskirts of Ashburton gave BYP members a taste of farm life. It was the first time in several years that BYP has had the chance for a trip off site, and for many members it was a first-time visit to a working farm.
Suited up, members witnessed how farmers support and manage the ewes and lambs at this busy time of year. After a tour and talk in the barn, members pitched in to refresh food, water and bedding for the sheep, and were rewarded with the to cuddle some of the lambs.
Many thanks to Shallowford Farm for offering us this opportunity and organising the visit so well. We hope to arrange more visits soon.
