For two weeks over the school holidays the BYP’s Thursday night session was turned into pool night at the fabulous Ashburton swimming pool. This came about when our members decided that we should hire the Ashburton pool for a swim fest! as a ‘get outdoors and do something different’ idea. The activities were open to all our age groups and were supported by the small youth funding grants being made available by DYS Space Ltd to support Devon youth clubs post lockdown. These grants were designed to help support and pay for activities for the young people that had effectively been under ‘house arrest’ for over a year. The swim sessions were very popular, a lot of fun and we will definitely be doing them again. We would like to give a special THANK YOU to all the fantastic team at the Ashburton Swimming Pool and DYS Space Ltd for helping and supporting BYP to put on this activity for the young people of Ashburton. Since reopening after lockdown we have seen a large growth in our membership. It’s been very encouraging for our staff team, young members, volunteers and parents to witness BYP bouncing back after a period of closure. On Tuesday September the 7th BYP will be providing a special party evening for young people of all ages including members and non members. It is to mark the end of lockdown and our 20th anniversary. Yep 20 years! We are now seeing new young people join from the parents that first went to BYP all those years ago. A real achievement and testament to all the good work we do.
