Youth Support Worker (Part Time) – Vacancy Reopened

Location: Ashburton, Devon
Hours: 3 hours per week with additional hours to provide cover when required, as agreed between Lead Youth Support Worker and post holder.
Pay: £13.21–£13.56 per hour (plus holiday pay, depending on qualifications and experience)
About the Role
We are reopening applications for a part-time Youth Support Worker to join our friendly, supportive team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, can build positive relationships, and wants to make a real difference in their wellbeing and development.
You’ll help run engaging youth club sessions, support young people through everyday challenges, and assist with a programme of activities that encourage creativity, confidence, teamwork and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and running of weekly youth sessions and activities
- Create a safe, inclusive, relaxed and positive environment
- Offer guidance and mentoring on topics such as mental health, friendships, education, employment, bullying and online safety
- Encourage young people to share ideas and take part in decisions about club activities
- Assist the Lead Youth Support Worker with safeguarding, health & safety and other BYP policies
- Attend supervision, team meetings and training as required
About You
We welcome applications from people with experience of working with children and young people, especially in youth work or similar settings.
You’ll need to be approachable, non-judgemental and able to communicate well with young people from all backgrounds.
Safeguarding knowledge, first aid, and youth work qualifications are desirable, but training is available for the right candidate.

Volunteers Wanted
Adult session volunteers to help run activities at any of our weekday evening sessions at BYP.
If you think you might be interested in gaining experience in youth work, volunteering is a good way to see if you enjoy the work and get experience and training.
Management Group members who meet monthly (a Monday evening) to help guide BYP’s activities and development. Experience of buildings, finance or fundraising a bonus!
